Buying baseball tickets with a broker can be helpful year round

.
Baseball is a sport that seems to take up most of the calendar and while there are plenty of games to watch, getting good tickets can be a pretty difficult thing to accomplish. Most baseball games have plenty of bleacher seats in the nosebleed section, at a decent price, but if you want to watch baseball, I mean really get into the game and see the action, the ball pitched and the sweat beading off the catcher’s equipment, you will probably want better seats. The best place to find the best seats is with a ticket broker. Buying baseball tickets with a broker can be helpful year round because you can get behind the home plate netting, on the first or third base lines or right out in center field, ready to catch the next home run.

Buying baseball tickets with a broker is done by baseball fans across the country because getting good tickets is not always easy. If you have ever sat in Section 300 of the baseball stadium and looked envious of those sitting front row at Wrigley Field, you may be interested in knowing that a good portion of those people bought their tickets through a broker, not the stadium. Most stadiums sell out of the ‘good seats’ fairly early in the season and unless you have a season pass, your chances of scoring one of these tickets is slim. That is what a good ticket broker is there for. If you want to sit on the first base line, just ask your broker and they will hook you up with great seats on any line you want.

Buying baseball tickets with a broker is also easier now with the internet. In the past you had to call your ticket broker over the phone and have him manually tell you what tickets are available and at what cost for each. Now, with the advent of the internet, it is as easy as just clicking over to your broker’s site and hitting “Purchase.” You can search by team, city or stadium and no matter what seat selection you’re looking for; you probably won’t be let down.

What about play- off time? Play- off time is the prime time for baseball fans and especially when the World Series rolls around. Most of the time you have to purchase play- off or World Series tickets far in advance…but what if your favorite team made a surprise run as a wildcard and made it deep in the play- offs? If you tried purchasing tickets at the stadium they would probably laugh. If you try to purchase tickets with your ticket broker, he will just ask how close you would like to sit.

Buying baseball tickets with a broker is the smartest way to get through a full season as a fan because no matter what team you follow or where you like to sit, you will be able to see the game from your favorite viewpoint, not just what was left over.

What Every World of WarCraft Alliance Player Must Know.

.

I have compiled a list of the most important things every WOW player on the Alliance must know and have narrowed it down to five. Read them below.

1.) If you want to go solo, get yourself a Night Elf Hunter or a Warlock.

While there isn't any one particular character template that works perfectly for soloing, this is about the best that there is on the Alliance side. First, there really isn't any equal level monster in the game that a properly tricked out Hunter can't tackle one-on-one without breaking a sweat. While Warlocks are a bit more fragile, they have an excellent complement of damage dealing spells that will let them survive - albeit while taking more damage. Unfortunately, many creatures will attack in groups if they notice one of their buddies getting pounded on (Elite creatures are particularly nasty with this).

That's where pets come in, Any "Pet" class can use their animal (or demonic) companion to do what's called "crowd control" - basically pulling one creature away from a group and a time and killing it. The Warlock's Void Walker is particularly good at this. Night Elves quest lines at low levels are also pretty self-contained within the geographically isolated Teldrassil, meaning you never have far to run to reach a quest destination or to retrieve your corpse.

2.) Gnomes have the best (worst) dancing emotes.

Trust me on this one. Simply typing /dance into the game while playing as a gnome will show you what I mean. Gnome dancing is the most offensive thing in Azeroth - rumor has it that the Horde offers 10 gold pieces to anyone who can actually manage to kill a Gnome in PvP during a dance. This makes Gnomes perfect for role-players who want to annoy other players and have a good laugh.

3.) Everyone loves a Human Priest.

This is the perfect class for players looking to group. Humans' racial talents help a Priest hold his or her own in combat and there isn't a group alive that isn't thrilled when a Priest shows up just before heading into an Elite dungeon or an instance. Priests are also pretty rare in the game, there aren't really all that many players who enjoy taking on the social/support roles, so your skills will always be in demand - and you'll level pretty fast.

4.) You don't have follow the quest lines for your own race!

One of the biggest misconceptions that new players have about World of Warcraft is that quests are restricted by race - in other words, that if you're playing a Human, you must take the "Human" quests in Elwynn Forest when you start out. That's simply not true. Players can take any level-appropriate quest regardless of their race. For Alliance players looking to level up a bit faster, there is a bit of a shortcut. Simply head to the hub cities of Ironforge or Stormwind as soon as you're strong enough to get out of the newbie zone (around level 5). From there, find the passage to Teldrassil, the Night Elf homeland and start collecting quests. Teldrassil is very small, contains the hub city of Darnassus that offers every service, and players rarely have to run far to complete quests. You'll find yourself at level 10 or even higher in no time!

5.) The Alliance means more content, but more people.

For whatever reason, the Alliance races as a whole (Humans, Night Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes) are more popular with players. This can often mean severe crowding in popular regions along with what we like to call "mass extinction events". That basically means that several quests in the area that require players to kill a particular animal may make it hard to find that animal for a while - and that you may be racing other players who are standing around waiting for them to spawn. The good news is that the Alliance has a lot more quest-based content than the Horde. While this isn't noticeable at the earlier levels, many Horde players often find themselves running low on quests around level 25-30 and being forced to just "farm" random creatures for experience.

The Legality of Online Poker

.
The topic of whether online poker is legal or illegal is frankly quite interesting. Typically, gambling is managed by each individual state, and as a result some states have legalized gambling and casinos and others do not. However, the internet is not something that can be managed by each state because it is global, there are no controls so to speak by individual countries, states, or governments on the Internet because it is like another world. But, back to the legality of poker online, a question that has no answer or many answers depending on how you look at it. There is no precedent set for gambling online, as a result there is no way to say that gambling online is legal, illegal, or none of the above. In fact, you could answer yes, no, or maybe, and be just as right with any of these answers. The Wire Act is one issues people say that makes gambling online illegal because it bans gambling by phone, however there is no precedent set that makes this statement valid regarding Internet gambling. As a result, while there are plenty of ways to infer gambling online is illegal, there is no way to prove so until a precedent is set. Setting a legal precedent requires someone being charged with playing online poker and then being found guilty. As of yet, not one single American soul out of the millions who play online poker each and every day has ever been charged, fined, or convicted of this act.

You might find this information not very helpful because your question is whether or not you can safely play poker online and not worry about breaking the law or being subjected to prosecution or fines of any type. Well, there is no outright answer, which favors playing poker online because there is nothing saying you absolutely cannot play poker online. Even if your state does not have legalized gambling or casinos, you can still play poker online and not worry about the authorities catching you and giving you a ticket. At the moment in time, finding all the online poker players, and fining them is not the main goal of states, and until there is some definitive statement regarding online poker you should play your heart away. Additionally, the fact that no legal precedent exists regarding online poker means you really have nothing to worry about.

However, if you are really concerned about the legality, or illegality, of playing poker online you should play and keep your ear out for any new information on the subject, or else avoid the game altogether because if you are so worried about the legality of online poker you won’t really be able to enjoy playing the game.

Online Poker Beginnings
Poker and gambling has been popular for years, however many states have outlawed the activity relegating die hard fans to travel to the likes of Las Vegas, Atlantic City, or even the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina to play their beloved game. However, not everyone can afford to travel to one of these destinations to play poker, nor do individuals have the time to do so on a regular basis. So, what was the average person who loved poker supposed to do if his buddies couldn’t play one Saturday night? Before online poker there were few options, now, no matter where you live you can play poker online to your hearts desire. You can play at night, in the morning, while eating lunch, or working as well. Online poker allows you to play your favorite game whenever and wherever you like!

At first, people thought this was an amazing idea, but they were also very cautious as well because the Internet was new, there was little understanding on how one could actually win money in an online poker game and then receive the money, there was mistrust, and simply confusion. But, the poker websites started offering security measures, large bonuses, and benefits for online players and little by little individuals started playing poker online.

The first players of online poker shared their success stories with friends and family members, as well as boasting about the security measures and the safety of playing online. This word of mouth advertising in addition to the advertising by the online poker sites really attracted new players and now in just a few short years online poker sites are some of the most popular sites on the web and there are people who play online poker every single day. If you had asked poker players 20 years ago what they thought of playing poker at home on a computer rather than in the casino you probably would have gotten some really strange looks and resounding negative responses. However, the age of the Internet has changed people and whether it is shopping, paying bills, or playing poker online the Internet is making everything easier and more accessible to the masses. Before, poker was a game of the wealthy who had the money to spend on a long vacation to a poker hot spot. Now, poker is a game of the every day man or woman that enjoys a hand of poker, but has neither the time nor the money to travel all over the country to play.

This huge growth in online poker is what has so many people worried about the legality of it and whether or not laws will be passed to regulate online pokers sites. While the future is unknown regarding online poker sites and whether they will be considered legal, illegal, or just another website remains to be seen, but until then simply log on to your favorite online gambling website and play to your hearts desire.

The Truth About Roulette Systems and How to Win!

The Truth About Roulette Systems and How to Win!

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-03 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Casinos have an edge and they make money, FACT. Players bet on Roulette and the game has a built in edge in the casinos favour. The player wins or loses on individual bets, but the casino is looking at the odds over the LONG term.

It's a bit like the way the insurance companies calculate insurance premiums, they lose sometimes, but they have an edge in their favour where premiums collected are more than their payouts.

Therefore, Individual bets even out over the long term and the casino earns according to the following equation:

Casino Profit = (Total Bets All Players) x (House Edge)

The House Edge
Roulette balls and dice have no memory. Every spin in roulette is independent of all past events and the current spin is not influenced by previous spins. This combined with the house edge dooms all roulette systems to failure.

Roulette systems cannot work, as there is no reliable data to base a system on in the first place. If you don't have data you rely on, you can't have a system that works!

Over time, the longer you play, the ratio of money lost to money bet will get closer to the house edge. If you win in the short or long term, it is purely down to chance, or luck.

Roulette Systems - Progression Systems
Progression systems are based on the belief that this equation can be beaten. It is an attempt to ignore the truth and tries to place bets according to a set equation in an attempt to change the house edge in favour of the player. There are two main types of progression roulette systems:

Negative Progression
A system where wagers are raised after a losing bet is called a negative progression. The logic behind this type of betting system is the frequency of winning sessions.

It assumes that in almost every session, the player will be able to leave on a win.

The downside is that loosing sessions can be very expensive for the player. The most famous of these systems is the Martingale system. While a player would lose over time anyway, the casino gives itself some added protection restricting the number of consecutive bets!

Positive Progression
Another method is positive progression, pyramiding, or letting a profit ride.

Players are willing to gamble more aggressively with money they have won in order to win bigger amounts.

The downside of these systems is the player needs to keep winning.

The player needs a long series of wins and the odds are strongly against him, in fact the house edge tells you that he can't win and the longer he plays the more obvious this will become.

The fact they are sometimes playing with winnings is irrelevant over time to their overall profitability.

Winning at Roulette
It is obvious from the above that casinos can't lose over the long term because of the house edge.

The above systems will not work, as there is no reliable data to base them on.

Players can win in the short term, (by chance), but the longer they play the more the casino gains an edge and wins.

To get the house edge down to its lowest level does not require roulette systems, all you need to do is know the right bets and how to place them.

Winning Blackjack - What You Need to Know and the Casino's Won't Tell You!

Winning Blackjack - What You Need to Know and the Casino's Won't Tell You!

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-03 -->Social bookmark this page<--

When you play blackjack, there are certain things you need to be aware of in terms of how the rules of the game affect your profit potential.

Casinos are NOT going to tell you that the chances of making money on their game are less than if you play against their competitors!

So, what is it that you need to know in order to play the game of blackjack in a way that gives you the best odds against the casino?

Well, you need to look at the rules that the casino offers for each blackjack game, and use them to your advantage along with the basic strategy.

Basic Strategy

Basic strategy is mathematically proven to cut the casino edge in blackjack if played correctly.

The casino's initial edge in the game is 5.75%, but by using basic strategy correctly, it is possible to reduce the casino edge to around 0.5%

Increasing Your Advantage Further - Look for Favourable Rules

A player can increase their advantage using basic strategy further by card counting, which shifts the odds of success in their favour.

For card counting to be effective, a player needs to play blackjack games with favourable rules.

Here are some rule variations and the effect that they have on a player's long-term profits.

Favourable Rules for the Player
Early surrender +0.62%
Late surrender Single deck +0.02%
Double down after splitting +0.13%
Drawing to split aces +0.14%
Re splitting of aces +0.03%
Double down cards any number +0.20%
2:1 payoff blackjack +2.32%

Unfavourable Rules for the Player
no doubling on hard 11 -0.89%
no doubling on hard 10 -0.56%
no doubling on hard 9 -0.14%
no doubling soft hands -0.14%
dealer hits soft 17 -0.20%
dealer takes no hole card -0.13%
2 decks (v single) -0.35%
4 decks (v single) -0.51%
6 decks (v single) -0.60%
pairs no re splitting -0.05%

The conclusion from this is obvious:

Correct Play + Favourable Rules = Optimum Advantage for Players

An Example of the Casino Edge in Card Counting

Let's look at card counting and the influence of the casino rules in relation to the number of decks. This is a critical consideration for any player before they play a game. Card counting is the only way to get the odds in a player's favor.

With a single deck game, player against the dealer - a +2 count is a 2% advantage to the player. If the number of decks is increased, then we have more cards to be dealt, which in turn increases the number of cards left, which then reduces the odds of success for the player.

Blackjack Card Counting is based on Probability

Card counting does not attempt to "predict" the card sequence; it is simply looking at the probability of cards coming out the deck.

Obviously, the more cards to be dealt the less effective a probability theory such as card counting will be.

Card counting is the only way to get the edge away from the casino and favorable to the player, so it is important to play with the most favorable rules that you can, in order to maximize your bankroll and payouts.

It does not matter how well you can card count if the rules are against you! Your skills will not be used to their full potential in terms of getting payouts.

Why We Play Games, Part 2

Why We Play Games, Part 2

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Steve Hall, Posted on: 2006-02-03 -->Social bookmark this page<--

In part one we started to get into the motivation of the gamer. We discussed challenge and its ugly stepsister competition, two of the most common motivators. Today, we look at two more on the way to forming an overall model for what moves us.

Perhaps less common than the first two motivators, creativity is nonetheless an important driving force in the gamer psyche. Though at first gaming doesn't seem like a particularly creative act, what with its formalized rules and structured systems, there is much more room for self expression than one might think. Some games play to this directly through unique presentations or artistic themes. Music games and many of the Sim titles are basically just expressive outlets that happen to be governed by a computerized system of rules. Other creatives find their outlet in multiplayer gaming. The modern MMORPG sports equipment and decorative combinations numbering well into the millions. The Creatively Motivated gamer takes pleasure in designing how their character looks as well as changing how they interact with their environment. Creatively Motivated gamers thrive when outlets are available. Anything involving a high degree of expression, decoration, or a large abstract component draws them. They wilt in gaming environments governed purely by numbers, and in those where presentation is extremely homogeneous.

Though we sometimes don't like to admit it, escapism is a motivation that lives in the heart of every gamer. By design, a game creates an inherently different world. Even games which have as one of their primary goals simulation of some aspect of the real world recast the player into some role they find more exciting than their own. Escaping into the role of adventurer, pilot, quarterback or even zookeeper provides motivation for nearly every gamer. Escapism Motivated gamers seek out games where the environment is rich, comprehensive, real. They thrive in worlds where suspension of disbelief is high, where they can lose themselves in the depth and complexity available to them. They gravitate toward role playing and simulation, environments where the world is rich and believable. They tend to avoid abstract games where the underlying reality is difficult to believe or understand. It is a strange sort of paradox that MMORPGS, with their incredibly deep histories and expansive worlds, are not as attractive to Escapism Motivated gamers as pure RPGs. This effect arises from the multiplayer aspect. Players talking in a public channel about out of game topics or, worse, about the mechanical and numerical aspects of the game world may well ruin the escapists experience and cause them to seek the company of non player characters or others who share their motivation.

Much has been made of the downside of escapism. A gamer who spends too much time in a world not their own can begin to lose touch. This sort of disassociation with reality can, and has, lead to all sorts of problems with work, school and personal relations. This does not mean, however, that escapism is itself an unhealthy thing. It is a basic part of the human experience. The reason we vacation, watch moves, enjoy sporting events or go camping is inherently escapist. As people, we are often unsatisfied with out lot in life. It's natural to seek out activities that allow us to experience something outside of our day to day. Gaming is no different. However, as gamers, we are an oft misunderstood community. We owe it to ourselves and to the world at large both to fight with information, by spreading the positive realities of gaming and gamer culture, and to fight internally against obsession. No matter how good a substitute for the real world a game may seem it is, in the end, only a pastime. Leave it once in a while.

In the final part of this series we get to Social Interaction. Then, we'll move on to some sort of unified theory about all this.

The Popularity Of Preschool Games

The Popularity Of Preschool Games

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Steve Hall, Posted on: 2006-02-03 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Throughout the web, you will see that one of the most targeted audiences for games is for children under school age. Are preschool games good for the child? And, should you be using them as part of your child's early education? With so many marketing geniuses working on promoting these games to parents of younger children, it is wise to take a step back and analyze the game prior to choosing it as the right one for your child.

There is no doubt that preschool games are popular. Some of the biggest names in preschool television usually star in their own computer game. Other games will showcase various other 'stars' of preschool television. But, the question is, should you expose your young child to these games?

To answer that question, you may want to consider why you shouldn't do so. If you are concerned with overexposure to television and computers, this can be controlled and therefore not a problem. If you are wondering if your child can actually gain anything from these games, you can rest assured that they will learn some, but not everything. You still need to invest time and energy with one on one learning as well.

Like preschool television programming, a little really can go a long way with these games. By taking the time to explore the game first you will know if it is appropriate for your child. And, you can then tell how interested they are in the game as well. This is a key factor in children enjoying the game in the first place.

When the child does enjoy games like these, they will be fun to play and therefore they will want to play more often. Repetition is the key factor in these games. The repetition that is offered will allow the child to gain considerable amounts of knowledge through the use of the game. But, that does not mean that you need to expose them to the game all the time.

You can and should take the time to wisely choose the games that you expose your child, especially your toddler to. You will find that some games offer an advanced level of educational skills while others offer somewhat simpler ideals. This makes them perfect because you can then choose games that are appropriate levels for your child. Inside the games, you will find a wide assortment of skill learning. The alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes and even simple math and reading can be gained from these games.

What makes these types of preschool games so attractive is that they teach the information in a fun, easy to follow way so that children can become engrossed with it and therefore learn from it. But, how much is enough and how much do you expose your child to the games? It is wise for each parent to make this individual choice since it all depends on their needs, beliefs and abilities. But, it is safe to say that computer use and television use should be limited at least somewhat throughout the first few years of life simply to encourage children to pretend play and get physical activity.

As parents consider whether or not to allow their preschooler to use these computer games, remember that when you make learning fun, learning happens easier for many kids. Take the time to explore the options in these games and you are sure to find more than one that fits even the stringent of needs.

Avoid These 4 Roulette Myths and Play Like a Pro!

Avoid These 4 Roulette Myths and Play Like a Pro!

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-03 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Roulette is a fun exciting and simple game to play, requiring no skill. This makes it very popular.

With its popularity a number of roulette myths have grown up and players who believe them cut their chances of success dramatically. Here are the most common ones:

Roulette Myth 1: All Roulette Wheels Are the Same

The first roulette myth is that all roulette wheels are the same - they are not.

For example, you have the European and American wheels to choose from and the European is the best one to play, as your odds of success are better.

Why? Quite simply, you have 37 slots rather than 38; this means the house advantage is just 2.70% on European wheels, whereas it is 5.25% on American wheels on all bets.

So it’s obvious, get the odds in your favour from the start and play European roulette wheels only.

Roulette Myth 2: Each spin of the roulette wheel is not random

The second and perhaps the most common of the roulette myths is: The history of previous spins has an affect on the outcome of the next spin.

For example, if the ball falls on red 10 times in a row players feel that black has a higher chance of coming up next - this is not true.

The odds remain 50% - 50% and this would be the same if the ball had fallen on red 20, or even 30 times. The reason for this is that every spin is an independent event and previous history is irrelevant to predicting future spins.

Many players also like to look for and bet on 'sleeping numbers' - numbers that has not been hit for a long time.

There is no logic behind such a bet as we have seen - the chances of that number coming up is 1 out of 36 numbers on every spin.

Just because one number has been 'sleeping' does not make it more likely that the number picked will come up on the next spin.

Roulette Myth 3: You can beat roulette with a mathematical system

This leads on from myth 2 and sees many people buying mathematical systems to beat roulette consistently.

They can’t work by their very nature. Why? Quite simply if there is no past data that can analysed - so how can you have a mathematical system with no reliable past data? You can’t!

Roulette is a game of pure chance and a system that claims to make money consistently from such a game is a contradiction in terms.

Roulette Myth 4: Money management systems

Money management cannot affect the house advantage on any bet, nor guarantee that you will win more money.

The house has an advantage before you apply a money management system and has that same advantage after you apply money management systems, the house edge does not change.

If the house always has this advantage, you cannot change it, or manage it.

So How Do You Make Money?

Well you are half way there by not falling for the above roulette myths!

Furthermore, while roulette is a game of chance you can take certain steps to put the odds in your favour as much as possible and you can find a variety of roulette strategies, tips and ways to increase your profit potential on our website.

Multi-Player Slots - Why They Look Set for Huge Growth!

Multi-Player Slots - Why They Look Set for Huge Growth!

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-03 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Slots are exciting and fun, but are a solitary playing experience. Many of us like to play with other players and this is where multi-player slots can enhance your online playing experience. Online gaming companies such as Riverbelle Casino have introduced a variety of games to allow players to play with others rather than on their own. This is very attractive for many players and there are multi-player slot games to suit all tastes. You can simply play alongside other players, (multi-player standard slots); join an online community, (multi-player community slots), where players help each other win a bonus as well as individual jackpots. Finally, players can compete with others in a winner takes all scenario, (multi-player pot slots), where there can only be one winner of the jackpot.

The games and their advantages are outlined below:

Multi-Player Standard Slots

Multi-Player Standard Slots is a global Slot Bank game where Players play with others online. This game will appeal to those who just want to share the experience of playing slots on line with their friends, or make new ones online.

Multi-Player Community Slots

Community Slots is a game where players participate in a slot Community. These slots have regular and community payouts. Community payouts are payouts for community winning symbol combinations. If a Player has a community winning symbol combination on the pay line, all Players in the Slot Bank that have placed a bet on the winning spin are paid the community payout. This is regardless if they have won or not. This means that you can earn money for other people and they can earn money for you.

Multi-Player Pot Slots

Playing Multi-Player Pot Slots has the opposite aim of community slots in that you are not trying to help other players, you are competing against them in a winner takes all scenario. Pot slots are games where players play against each other for a central pot. A Pot Slot is defined as the amount your bet added to a common pot of all the players' wagers, less the service fee. At the end of the spin, the Player with the highest points wins the pot. There can only be one winner and this game will attract those who like to compete directly with other players.

Casinos such as Riverbelle are looking at the success of online poker and seeing multi-player slots as a game that will attract a similar type of player. Many players are sociable and like the idea of interacting with others and these games allow them to do just that. Perhaps the game with the biggest growth potential is pot slots. The reason is that it allows you to compete for a jackpot, but unlike normal slots, you know that there has to be a winner within a specified time. This makes it an exciting, competitive and fun game to play.

A Simple Four Point Plan to Win at Blackjack

A Simple Four Point Plan to Win at Blackjack

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Blackjack is the one game that you can play with a positive edge against the casino.

It's this edge that makes blackjack the preferred game for the serious player interested in making long term profits.

To win at blackjack long term you need to have a strategy, but you also need to play games with favourable rules and use strict money management techniques.

Here are four tips to help you make big consistent profits:

Tip 1. Basic Strategy

When you play blackjack correctly and use basic strategy, you cut the casino edge - it's a mathematically proven fact.

The casino's initial edge in the game is 5.75%, but by using basic strategy, you can reduce the casino edge to around 0.5%

There are plenty of free sources on the net that have strategy cards to tell you how to play.

Tip 2. Card Counting

After learning basic strategy, you can gain a positive edge over the casino (about 0.5 -1.5%) by card counting.

There are many card counting systems.

A Player needs to know the system they are using well and execute it without errors. Errors are costly and they will wipe out your advantage.

A simple system executed correctly will make you more long-term profit than a complicated one, which causes you to make errors.

You need to use a card counting system that you can execute with confidence and without errors to make it effective in giving you an edge over the house.

Tip 3. Look for Favourable Rules

For card counting to be effective, a player needs to play blackjack games with favourable rules.

Here are some rule variations and the effect that they have on a player's long-term profits.

Favourable Rules for the Player

Early surrender +0.62%

Late surrender single deck +0.02%

Double down after splitting +0.13%

Drawing to split aces +0.14%

Re-splitting of aces +0.03%

Double down cards any number +0.20%

2:1 payoff blackjack +2.32%

Unfavourable Rules for the Player

No doubling on hard 11 -0.89%

No doubling on hard 10 -0.56%

No doubling on hard 9 -0.14%

No doubling soft hands -0.14%

Dealer hits soft 17 -0.20%

Dealer takes no hole card -0.13%

2 decks (v single) -0.35%

4 decks (v single) -0.51%

6 decks (v single) -0.60%

Pairs no re-splitting -0.05%

You need to play with favourable rules otherwise; the casino will wipe out the edge you gain through card counting.

Tip 4. Money Management

You need to decide what your bankroll is going to be and play at a level that will enable you to ride out losing periods.

Keep in mind card counting is not a predictive theory, it's a probability theory, and losing periods can and do occur.

To win at blackjack you need staying power. There is no point in having a great strategy and no bankroll!

Texas Holdem Poker Pre-Flop Strategy – Six Tips to Help You Win

Texas Holdem Poker Pre-Flop Strategy – Six Tips to Help You Win

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

A carefully thought out pre-flop strategy is essential if you are to win at Texas holdem poker.

Here is a basic Texas holdem pre-flop strategy to get you off to a winning start:

Tip 1 – Consider the Number of Players

With 10 people in the game, there is a greater chance of someone having a good hand, than in a game with a lesser number of players. Players need to be more cautious in large games as more players means more competition.

Tip 2 – Consider the Other Players Playing Style

Consider how the other players are playing and adapt your strategy to give you the best possible advantage against them.

For example, if you notice a player is raising every hand pre-flop, you should consider playing tighter. You can then take him out when you have a good hand in the pocket pre-flop.

Tip 3 - Your Bankroll

If you only have a small bankroll, you should play extremely carefully and select one hand to bet on, hoping to get as many players involved as possible for a good size pot. On the other hand, if you have a large bankroll, you can take the higher-risk higher payout bets and be more aggressive.

Tip 4 - Consider Your Table Position

Players in late position have the ability to influence the size of the pot more than players in early position. This is especially true pre-flop. The dealer is obviously in the most advantageous position, as they get to see how all the players play before making their own playing decision.

Players must be more selective with their hands in early position, as they don't have the advantage of seeing other players betting before they decide if they want to stay in the hand.

Players in late position can play weaker hands with less fear of loss.

Tip 5 – Know the Hands You Should Play

When playing Texas Holdem, it’s essential to know which hands you should pursue during pre-flop betting i.e. which hands are most likely to yield a win, and to determine which hands are worth risking money on.

There are many books and downloads on the Internet that will do this for you automatically, and for novice players these tools are useful until you gain experience

Tip 6 – Discipline

The most important pre-flop skill is to play with discipline and patience.

The idea is to only play a hand when you have an advantage.

You have to beat 10 other Poker players, and most of the time, your hand will simply not be good enough to win.

Playing only the hands when you have an advantage requires a great deal of discipline, since you will not be involved in many pots.

Playing with this strategy, will however, provide you with a lot of time to study other players and their potential weaknesses that you can exploit.

Texas holdem is a game of psychology as well as odds, and the above are general pre-flop strategy guidelines to follow.

Poker Money Management - Don't Make These Two Common Mistakes!

Poker Money Management - Don't Make These Two Common Mistakes!

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Here we will give you some general guidelines on poker money management and the two most common errors that players make, that increase the odds of losing dramatically.

Poker Money Management - Your Bankroll

Your 'bankroll' is the money you can afford to potentially lose in poker and have allocated to playing.

Poker is by its nature a volatile game and the chances that you will lose in the short term are high.

All players need to employ money management whilst playing poker, to succeed long term.

General Guides on Bankroll Size

As a general guide for how big your bankroll should be, a commonly accepted figure is for it to be at least 200 to 300 big bets at the level that you are playing at.

If you are playing $0.50/1 games, your bankroll needs to be $200.00 plus.

While the above is considered a good guide, there are other factors to take into account when calculating bankrolls that are influenced by the type of player you are and your game of choice.

Bankroll and the Type of Player You Are

If you are a tight player, then you will probably not need as much money as a player who is involved in many pots.

This really is down to individual style of play, and an aggressive player should think about having a bit extra to play with due to the fluctuations that his style of play is likely to incur.

Bank Roll and the Game You Play

Another factor when determining the size of your bankroll is the type of game you play.

If you like playing Stud or Triple Draw, you will need more money than if you are playing Draw Poker.

Some games have more betting rounds than others do, so if you are going to play in the games with more betting rounds, you need to have more money.

Poker Money Management - Common Errors

Poker money management goes out the window if you make the two common errors below - make sure you understand and avoid them if you want to preserve your bankroll!

Don't Advance Too Quickly

This means that as soon as you have played poker for a couple of weeks at one limit and are breaking-even or are up a little bit, you advance to a higher limit with your entire bankroll.

If you play this way, you are virtually guaranteed to eventually lose all of your money.

You need to move up steadily. For example, if you start at the $0.50/1 games with $200 and steadily increase your bankroll to $400, you can then move up to playing $1/2 games.

If your bankroll decreases to 100 big bets, you should move back down again, to maximize your staying power.

Don't Chase Losses by Moving Up!

Many players play bigger games in order to make up for their losses, but if you are losing money at your current level, then are likely lose money at a higher limit.

Poker is a game where you need to progress slowly and never chase losses.

Poker Money Management - Why are You Playing Poker?

One of the most important things to consider when determining your bankroll is the reason that you play poker.

If you have a regular job, your bankroll will be smaller than a professional poker player who effectively lives off their bankroll.

The above are general guidelines for poker money management however; the money management techniques you employ will be influenced by the factors discussed above.

Learning How to Play Poker Online

Learning How to Play Poker Online

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Jeff Dragt, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Poker is not entirely a game of luck, but rather a game of skill and how you can take the cards you are dealt and make them win. This requires knowledge of odds, bluffing, and the general rules of the game not to mention the other cards opponents have showing. So, if you are interested in playing poker online you can really learn how to play well and win money. It’s not just about what you are dealt, it’s how you play the cards you are dealt so focus on learning rules and strategy before you begin playing poker online for money.

Learning how to play poker in a real casino or with other people can frequently be intimidating and your nervousness and anxiety will take over making it more difficult to think and play your hands efficiently. Of course, in time, this wears off as your confidence builds, however there is a way to avoid this situation altogether and that is with online poker. You can easily enter an online poker room and start practicing and learn how to play. Also, most of the top poker sites have poker rooms where you can practice and play for free, so take advantage of this situation and log some hours in the practice poker rooms. You will build your knowledge of the game as well as your confidence and once you have become good enough you can give a paying room a try. You wouldn’t enter a marathon without training and you should not enter an online poker site without practicing if you do not want to lose your money.

Strategy
Strategy is important and this is the key factor that will help you win many games even if the cards did not fall just as you were hoping. Also, many players lack strategy and are too cocky to think they need it, so simply do some research on the strategy for your preferred poker game and implement these as you are practicing. The more your practice the easier strategy will become and before you know it your brain will simply be thinking in a strategic way. This is important and it will train you to become a really great poker player.

Of course, the online free poker games seem silly to many and just a way to pass the time like Solitaire or any other computer game. However, if you are truly interested in becoming a better player all you have to do is really focus on the practice games as if they were real games and the money was real as well, implement the strategies you are learning, focus on mistakes and why certain moves did not work, and you will really become a better poker player. When you are a better poker player you may begin playing for money online and will be prepared to play against the many talented card players that are in the online poker rooms.

Keep in mind, however, that the play tables are not as well laid out as the money tables, so after a few hands you should be able to learn and start winning a few hands. However, if you are not winning with the play hands after a couple hours of playing then you either play poorly or are not implementing the strategies you have learned, and likely a combination of both. Remember, if you are losing on a regular basis in the play tables then there is no reason to enter the money tables because you will lose again and this time real money. So stay focused when you are learning how to play and understand that if you can’t win at the free tables you will never win at the pay tables. Once you have played the free games for a while and start winning some, then you should move on to some of the cheap real games. There are games for one cent and two cents online, so you should consider playing those as your second step in the quest to become a good poker player. While the free games will help you learn how to play the game and the basics, you must take a step up every once in a while to challenge yourself and to learn more in order to become a better player. As long as you continue practicing and moving up a step at a time you will become a great poker player and win a lot of money. However, if you try and join the professional players when you still are learning the rules of the game you will simply lose money and your self esteem. Don’t let this happen and take it one step at a time.

Becoming a Player
Now that you know how to become a player you need to start practicing. Check out some of the top 10 poker room sites on the Internet and then start playing the practice hands. By doing this you will be able to learn a lot faster and save your embarrassment for a bad move because you are in front of your computer screen and nobody can see you. In the past, learning to play poker took a lot of time and guts because individuals had to endure playing with those better than themselves and individuals who would surely beat them for some time. However, you can avoid this situation altogether by simply playing the free games online and taking advantage of all that is made available to you. Then, when you finally do make it to the money games you will be able to hold your own and will likely win which is a ego booster and will only help you to continue playing well. Don’t think the free online poker games are a waste of time, but rather utilize them and make them teach you the ins and outs of poker so you become a truly great player.

A Parent's Guide to Online Gaming, Part 1

A Parent's Guide to Online Gaming, Part 1

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Steve Hall, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

The internet touches every aspect of your children's lives. Where you might look up an unknown word in a dictionary, your kids are more likely to use dictionary.com. Where you use the telephone, they use instant messenger. An even greater difference can be found in how they play games. Where the games of their parent's generation may have involved a board, cards, or at their most sophisticated a console system, the games your children play on the net can be far more complex. They mine gold, spread empires, fight dragons and aliens alone or with tens, hundreds, even thousands of their fellow gamers. All of this makes for a confusing mish mash of names, places, jargon and lingo that can leave you with no idea what your kids are actually doing and a vague feeling of uneasiness that some part of it might not be good for them.

What's appropriate for your kids is a decision only you can make. How much violence they are exposed to, how much time they spend in front of a screen and how much contact they have with the faceless strangers so common to the net are all questions you must grapple with and, in the end, decide for your family. While we can't help you make these rough decisions, we can certainly help you get the information you need to understand your children's hobbies better, both to make informed judgments about what they should and should not be doing, and to help you reach into another part of their lives that may have previously seemed like something of a puzzle box.

The Easy Stuff

The simplest type of online game is the sort of Flash or Java driven game that you generally see running inside your web browser. This type of game tends to be relatively simple compared to the stand alone games discussed later. Common examples include Bejeweled, Zuma, and Diner Dash. These games are almost universally single player and have none of the sort of violent or mature content that keeps parents up at night. Were they movies, they would be G Rated, with perhaps the occasional game stretching to PG. If this is the type of game your kids are into then first, be relieved. Then, try the game out. Many of these games can be very enjoyable for even the most casual of players. Some, such as Bookworm, even have genuine educational content. These games can be as much an opportunity for bonding and learning as throwing around a baseball in the backyard, and have the added bonus of being much easier to get your kids to sit down with you and play.

FPSs: Finding Something to Shoot

FPS stands for First Person Shooter. They are First Person in the same since that a story might be. That is, the player sees the world through the eyes of a single character and interacts with the game environment as though he were that character. Shooter comes from the primary goal of most such games, the shooting of whatever happens to be the bad guy. FPS games are among some of the most popular online. Common examples include Doom, Battlefield:1942, and the X-Box game Halo. From a parental perspective, these games can be cause for concern. They vary widely in the amount of realism, degree of violence, language, and general attitude. The only way to get a good idea of the content issues is to watch the particular game. If your kids don't want you watching while they play, then fire up the game yourself sometime when they aren't around. There is a sizeable variation in how violent and how personal FPS content can be from game to game. The single player portion of Halo, for example, has players fighting against alien invaders with largely energy weapons and a minimum of realistic human suffering. In contrast, WWII themed games tend to go out of their way to show realistic violence. Given the subject matter, this is appropriate for the game, but may not be for your kids. Online play presents a potentially greater concern. The goal of online FPS games is almost always killing other players. While some games do have various modes where this is a secondary goal, all of them give the player a gun and encourage him to use it on characters representing other people. Simulated gore and the use of violence against others to achieve goals may be things you don't want your kids exposed to. Again, these are your decisions to make, but we encourage you to make them with as much information as possible. Talk to your kids. Find out what they think, in their words, is going on in the game. Make sure they see the line between what happens in the game and what happens in the real world, between what it's okay to simulate and what it's okay to do. The answers may surprise you. If your children understand the differences, see real violence as deplorable and simulated violence as part of the game then FPS games, even online ones, can be a perfectly healthy way to have fun and let off steam. In the end, it falls on you to make sure that what your child gets out of the game is good for him or her.

Next time, we'll talk about RTS and MMORPG, the two other common types of commercial online game and touch on the twin demons of addiction and predation.

Las Vegas Casino Speak: How to Talk the Talk

Las Vegas Casino Speak: How to Talk the Talk

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Jay Moncliff, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

If you're visiting a Las Vegas casino, you may wonder what kind of language they're speaking. There is a lot of Vegas lingo, and learning a few of the more popular terms and what they mean can make you look like an old hand in the casino.

Some of the terms are colorful and will really make you look cool. Vegas veterans call dice "bones". Want to look cool? Roll the bones at a craps table. Another cool Vegas term is "bill". Be careful, this is a $100 bill, not just a dollar.

You may be interested in playing a "progressive" game. This is a game where the jackpot keeps growing until someone wins. Each play makes the jackpot grow until some lucky person wins the entire "pot" or amount of money available.

You may notice a "fill" while you're in the casino. When a machine's coins are replenished, or more chips are brought to a table game, it's called a fill. Of course, the coins go into the machine's hopper, or the container inside the machine that holds the coins or tokens.

You may want to keep an eye out for the "pit" while you're in the casino. This area is usually off-limits to customers, but it's where the "pit boss" or supervisor monitors the activity in the casino. It's interesting to see the pit boss concentrate and monitor the "action" or activity on the "floor" (gaming area).

Of course, "gaming" was originally coined because of the negative connotation of the word "gambling". No one in Vegas actually gambles, if you read the literature. They all participate in "gaming". You'll win or lose money either way, but gaming doesn't carry the same expectation of losing as gambling.

Of course, some of the terms in Vegas have several meanings. You might hear the term “action” used in several ways. Personally, “action” could be the amount of money you bet during one casino gambling session, or the entire amount you bet during your trip. The term is used both ways. For the casino, “action” can refer to the annual amount the casino deposits, or the amount of play in a specific time period defined by the casino management.

The “buy in” is the smallest amount that you can join a table game for. You will notice that some tables require $5, $10 or even $50 and more to join the game. This term inevitably leads to “high roller,” or someone who has a lot of money to bet and isn’t afraid to use it. Depending on the casino, a high roller is usually considered someone who bets $10,000 or more during a day. Or you might say, his action is $10,000 or more.

Finally, you’ll probably need the useful term, “all-in”. This can mean that you are betting everything you have left in a poker game, but it can also mean you’re broke or absolutely exhausted after a long day of “gaming” Vegas can be a lot of fun, and knowing some of the lingo can make you feel like a real “insider”.

A blackjack basic strategy cuts the casino edge and most players know this, but what most players do not grasp is that not all casino blackjack games are the same.

Where you play the game, can increase or decrease the effectiveness of your basic strategy dramatically.

Here we will look at blackjack basic strategy and its advantages and how it is affected by favourable and unfavourable rules.

How a Blackjack Basic Strategy Increases Your Odds of Success What does the basic strategy get you in terms of cutting the casino edge in blackjack?

The casino's initial edge in the game is about 5.75%, but by using a blackjack basic strategy, it is possible to reduce the casino edge to around 0.5%. Here is an illustration of how:

Initial casino Advantage 5.75%
Hitting and standing -3.25%
Doubling -1.5%
Pair splitting -0.5%

Casino Advantage with Strategy 0.5%

Increasing Your Advantage Further - Look for Favourable Rules

You can increase your advantage using blackjack basic strategy further by picking a casino with favourable rules, and avoiding those with unfavourable rules.

Here is an overview of the advantages gained in relation to specific rule variations and how player's odds are decreased, or increased.

Correct Implementation + Favourable Rules = Optimum Advantage with Blackjack Basic Strategy

Mathematical simulations of millions of hands have shown the effectiveness of the blackjack basic strategy and it is the basis of all card-counting systems.

Many players don't however, play it to its maximum potential, as they don't play with favourable rules. If you don't, you are missing great longer-term profit potential. Don't make the same mistake, play smart and be lucky!

Poker Bluffing - Ten Winning Tips

Poker Bluffing - Ten Winning Tips

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Bluffing is the art of making other players believe you have a better hand than you really have. If used correctly bluffing can help you enhance your profits from poker and win big. Here are ten tips to help you bluff successfully.

Tip 1: Bluff when "someone" might have made a good hand. An example is when the third of a suit hits the board. "Someone" might have a flush. If you bet as if you have the flush, the other players may believe you.

Tip 2: Bluff if you are in a pot with a player that is looking for a reason to fold. By betting, big and making them think you have something they can't match; you can remove them from the game.

Tip 3: Pay attention to other players - the more you know about your opponent's habits the better. If a player is a novice, they may bluff too frequently making them easy prey. However, it's the more experienced players you need to watch.

Tip 4: If players have seen you bluffing recently, they will register it. If you try to bluff again too soon then someone is likely to call you. Of course, this can be used to your advantage. If you find yourself with a good hand after being caught bluffing, odds are players will call your bets.

Tip 5: Bluff tight tables only. As a rule, bluffs have a better chance of working at tight tables rather than loose tables, unless all the "loose players" have already folded.

Tip 6: Bluff high limit tables only. In low limit games, there's really no advantage in bluffing. When betting only small amounts, you can bet that the majority of the time someone will call your bluff. High limits, and especially no limit games, are ideal for successful bluffing.

Tip 7: Bluff from late position only. If everyone is checking, calling, or folding in front of you, it's a good time to try to get the pot. It's not a good idea to bluff from early position, because you have no idea of other player's hands.

Tip 8: Don't bluff too often, and try to adopt a pattern other players will find difficult to spot. If you bet with a pattern, they're sure to spot it. A good bluffing strategy will keep them guessing.

Tip 9: Be careful when bluffing bad players, as they may not know when they are beaten! Even though you may present yourself as having a stronger hand, they simply may not care or not even notice, as they have not perfected a strategy of their own.

Tip 10: Some bluffing situations are 'typical', and you need to be able to use them to your advantage. Good players however, may spot this, note the play and use it against you. Here is a typical situation where bluffing can be effective:

You are in the late position pre-flop and after you, there are just two players left. Your cards are not indicating a good hand, but everyone before you have folded. This is an ideal time to bluff and bet big. The remaining players will probably think that you have a big hand and fold.

Bluffing Is an Essential Strategy for All Poker Players

Bluffing is not a science it's an art. The 10 tips above however, will help you perfect a bluffing strategy that will allow you to bluff your way to bigger profits.

Ten Online Slot Machine Tips

Ten Online Slot Machine Tips

Gambling & Casinos article brought to you by Stephen Todd, Posted on: 2006-02-04 -->Social bookmark this page<--

Online casino slot machines are a very random game of chance, but there are certain basic money management and playing tips that can maximize your bankroll and increase your chances of success and of winning the big jackpots.

Tip 1. Know Your Machine: Sounds obvious, but there are many players who play and then realize they have not played the right amount of coins for optimum payout!

Tip 2. Go for highest payback possible: It's a game of chance; so if lady luck shines on you, get the biggest payback. The player has a far better chance of winning on online slot machines when payback percentages are bigger.

Tip 3. Play maximum coins at all times: Payback percentages are calculated to include jackpot amounts. Jackpots generally, are only paid on maximum coins played. If you play less than maximum coins, your payback will be less. You want the best chance of the jackpot and a big payback, that's the fun of online slots, so play maximum coins.

Tip 4. Check the payback percentage: Online casinos typically payback 75 - 97%. Look for casinos that have online slot machines with payouts of 95% or more. They are out there and your odds of bigger paybacks are of course greater on these machines.

Tip 5. Play Video Poker Slots: If you enjoy them, play Video Poker machines. The house edge is less and payback is usually better if certain basic strategies are used.

Tip 6. Set Your Bank Roll In Advance: Your Playing Strategy must be set up BEFORE you play slot machines; only gamble what you can afford to lose. Going into a casino or online, it's easy to lose track of time and money. With the adrenalin rush of playing, time and money can go very quickly!

Tip 7. Don't forget single payline machines: If you have small bankroll, these machines are less expensive to play, so you can play for longer and you still have the chance of winning a jackpot.

Tip 8. Play only two coin or three coin machines: Your money will of course last longer on a two coin max machine, than on a three coin max machine. You will be able to play and have the thrill of pursuing the jackpot for longer.

Tip 9. Don't play online progressive slots on a small bankroll: Payouts on progressives are much lower than on regular slot machines. For the casual player, they are a poor choice to play, as they consume your bankroll quickly.

Tip 10. Have A Win Target: When playing online slot machines most players have a quit time or amount of money they are prepared to lose, but many make the fundamental mistake of giving back their winnings. Have a win target, if lady luck smiles on you, then quit and enjoy some of your winnings.

Multi Player Pot Slots - Playing Multi-Player Pot Slots is a game where players play against each other for a central pot and the Player with the highest points total wins the pot. Slots are exciting and fun, but for competitive players here is your chance to play with and against other players, which adds to the fun and excitement of the game.

The basics of playing Multi-Player Pot Slots are outlined below:

Pot Slots - Pot Slot is when the amount you bet is added to a common pot, less the service fee. At the end of the spin, the Player with the highest points wins the pot.

* The slot room consists of fixed number of slots

* A Player is only able to sit at one slot machine per room.

* All slot machines are visible to all the Players.

* A game cycle is defined as having a maximum of four carry-overs. Therefore, it has a maximum of five spins per round.

* The pot is carried over until a single Player has the only win - or to the maximum number of four carry-overs.

* When there is a carry-over, Players place a bet to continue to play. Bets are NOT carried over.

* A game cycle can only end when the following occurs:

1. If a Player wins.

2. If the game is on the final carry-over, where there is a win or there is a tie and the pot has been carried over to a maximum of four carry-overs.

* A spin is defined as starting when the first reel of the first active slot spins and ending when the last reel of the last active slot stops.

* To take part in a spin or game cycle a Player must place a bet. The amount wagered is the same for all Players in all-game cycles, and is determined by the slot room.

* The bet is added to a common pot, less the service fee.

* The slots spin sequentially starting from the top left hand corner moving clockwise.

* Win combinations are not associated with a monetary payout; they are associated with a certain number of points.

* The Player with the highest points wins this pot. In the event of a tie, or have a no win, the pot carry' s-over to the next game.

* There are a maximum number of carry-overs set for each slot room. If there is still a tie when this limit is reached then the pot is split between the Players with the same number of points.

* A Player leaves or joins at the end of a game cycle.

* A minimum of two Players per slot room is required to start the game. If one person voluntarily leaves, and there are not enough Players to continue, then the remaining Player wins the pot.

The Player who leaves forfeits their contributions to the pot.

* The end of a spin is when the last reel of the last active slot has stopped. All winnings are then paid out.

* There are different slot rooms with FIXED coins sizes per slot room. You decide on the required coin size. There can only be one coin size in a slot room.

* The end of a spin is when the last reel of the last active slot has stopped.
